All About iPad Weight
On Apple’s US site http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/, they give the following information about the iPad 2:
| Model: | WiFi | WiFi + 3G | WiFi + 3G – Verizon Model |
| weight | 601 g | 613 g | 607 g |
| in Lb-Oz | 1 lb 5.20 oz | 1 lb 5.62 oz | 1 lb 5.41 oz |
A weighty subject, but not a heavy device, regardless of the units.
By the way, Apple also also notes that the actual weight of any particular unit can vary according to how it was built – it’s configuration – and the manufacturing process used. I suppose that also means, “where it was built.”
A note by the side – we really should be talking about “mass” here, not weight. Weight is the force that is exerted by gravity on a mass of a certain amount. Therefore “weight” is not constant, since gravity is not constant. Mass on the other hand, is constant regardless of whether it is here on the Earth’s surface, on the Moon, or in outer space! ![]()
